Jennifer Dawn “Jen” (Caveny) Briesacher, age 34, of Edwardsville, passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO. She was born March 13, 1983 in Springfield, IL, daughter of Michael and Dawn (Eck) Caveny, both of whom survive in Springfield.
Besides her parents, Jen is survived by her husband, David Briesacher, whom she married June 16, 2007; three children: Ronan, Evelyn and Maren; one brother, Denis Caveny; her grandmothers, Billie Caveny of Gillespie, IL and Mary Eck of Houston, TX; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Charles Caveny and Richard Eck.
Jen was a 2001 graduate of Springfield High School and a 2006 graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She was a former teacher and soccer coach at Edwardsville High School. She was passionate about staying fit, reading, being outdoors and her Catholic faith. She became a stay-at-home mom when she had her first child, and dedicated her life to her beloved children. Jen was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville, was a former youth minister and served on the Vocations Committee.
Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. A funeral Mass of Resurrection will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the church with the Most Reverend Kevin Vann, Bishop of Orange County, California presiding; the Very Reverend Jeffrey Goeckner, Pastor of St. Boniface Catholic Church preaching; and Deacon Sean Caveny, Jen’s uncle, assisting.
