Obituary for Janet M. Schwankhaus

Janet M. Schwankhaus, age 97, of Nashville, IL, died at 9:08 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Friendship Manor Healthcare Center in Nashville.
She was born July 18, 1919 in Marissa, IL, the daughter of the late Herman and Hulda (Ascher) Matzenbacher.

She married Ardell Schwankhaus Sept. 29, 1946. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by two children: Robert (Rebecca) Schwankhaus of Okawville and Karlyne (Larry) Roethemeyer of Hoyleton; three grandchildren: Douglas (Melanie) Roethemeyer of Hoyleton, Angie Roethemeyer of St. Louis and Kevin Roethemeyer of Hoyleton; two great-grandchildren: Kelton and Kallie Roethemeyer; and two brothers: Robert (Pat) Matzenbacher and David (Delores) Matzenbacher all of Okawville.

She was preceded by four sisters: Doris (the late Jack) Vallian, Niedra Matzenbacher, Elizabeth (the late Harry) Brinkman, and Winifred (the late Wallace) Klingenberg; and two brothers: Carl (the late Elma) Matzenbacher and Milton Matzenbacher.

Mrs. Schwankhaus was a cook at Okawville Elementary School for 26 years. She enjoyed crochetting and decorating cakes.

Her wishes are to be cremated and have no memorial service.
