Obituary for Lamire Xavier Wiss

Lamire Xavier  Wiss
Lamire Xaiver Wiss, 89 of Vandalia passed away the morning of Tuesday, July 26 at his home. He was born January 21, 1927 in Vandalia.

Mr. Wiss graduated from Millikin University in 1950 with a degree in business. He was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity and treasurer of his senior class. He married Thelma Irene Adams on September 29, 1951. They had two daughters, Shayla and Amy.

Mr. Wiss was owner and broker of Abe Lincoln Real Estate for over 25 years. He also owned and operated restaurants including Jays and The Abe Lincoln. He owned a Ben Franklin Store in Greenville and co-owned a Ben Franklin Store in Vandalia.

Over the years, Mr. Wiss was president of The Chamber of Commerce, member of the Vandalia Rotary Club and was a founding member of the Jaycees of Vandalia. Mr. Wiss also served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 and was a WWII Veteran. He was a saxophone player and member of the Navy Band.

Mr. Wiss is survived by his wife Thelma, daughter Shayla Kine and her husband Jeff of Edwardsville, IL, daughter Amy Schuett and her husband Scott of Edwardsville, IL; grandchildren Chad Haas and his wife Angie of St. Peters, MO, Breanna Schuett of Columbia, MO and Bonnie Schuett of Edwardsville; great grandchildren Aubrey Haas and Avrianne Haas.

There will be a Celebration of Life/open house on Friday July 29 from 5pm to 8pm at the Wiss residence in Vandalia.
