Obituary for Mary Josephine "Jo" Packett (Pickens)

Mary Josephine "Jo" Packett, age 72, of Belleville, died at 7:51 p.m. Monday, November 9, 2015 at her residence. She was born September 8, 1943 in Memphis, Tennessee, the daughter of Jack and Margaret (Warden) Pickens. She married William Packett, Sr. He survives. Also surviving are two children: Ronda (Duane) Smith of Belleville and Michelle King of Phoenix, Arizona; one stepson, Bill (Melissa) Packett, Jr. of Southern Pines, North Carolina; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Packett was a member of the Junior Women's Club and was a deputy sheriff for St. Clair County. She also worked as a dispatcher for the Cahokia Police Department and was a bus driver for Cahokia School District 187.
The visitation and memorial service will be held from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 13, 2015 at Christ Church, 339 Frank Scott Parkway East, Fairview Heights. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Assn.
