Obituary for Joan C. Franz
Joan C. Franz, age 84, of Edwardsville, formally of Florissant died at 9:25 a.m. Thursday, September 10, 2015 at Hitz Home in Alhambra. She was born March 2, 1931 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of Oscar and Grace (Brand) Franz. She is survived by two sons: Steven (Joyce) Towner of Litchfield and Stan (Cheri) Towner of Edwardsville; and five grandchildren: Andy Towner, Breann Towner, Joseph Towner, Kyle Towner and Nicholas Towner.
Ms. Franz graduated from Ferguson High School in Ferguson, MO. She then went on to study art at Ohio Wesleyan University. She worked as a teacher's aide in the Ferguson/Florissant School District, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed spending time at the family farm in Jerseyville, IL, where she cared for her favorite horse, Billy Boy. She also enjoyed listening to talk radio and watching classic movies. She was an avid collector of buttons and belonged to the National Button Society.
Cremation services were accorded. A private family service will be held at a later date.
