Obituary for Delbert E. Smith
Delbert E. Smith, age 62, of Cahokia, died at 10:43 a.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at his residence. He was born December 25, 1951 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of the late Elbert and Lois (Villines) Smith. He married Sharon Catterson March 18, 1972. She survives. Also surviving are three children: Delbert Smith, Jr (and his wife, Vinnie) of Granite City, IL, Jerry Lee Smith and Melisa Smith, both of Cahokia; 12 grandchildren; one sister, Thrasher Stevens of Prim, AR; and one brother, Orbie VanCurin. He was preceded in death by a son, Jamie Smith.
Mr. Smith was a millwright for Elements, Inc in East St. Louis from 1974-2005. He then became a driver for PTI Transportation in Cahokia.
According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated. A memorial service is pending.
