Obituary for Susan M. Jackson (Ramatowski)

Susan (Ramatowski) Jackson, age 52, of Belleville, was pronounced dead at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 7, 2014 at her residence. She was born June 22nd, 1962 in Highland, IL, the daughter of Mary Ann (Cerny) Ramatowski of Collinsville, and the late George Ramatowski. She grew up in Collinsville, IL and was married to Christopher Jackson. Susan leaves behind two sons: Joel (Cecilia) Pennington of Bloomington, IN; Adam (Amy) Pennington of Lebanon, IL; and two sisters: Natalie (Frank) Genco of Colleyville, TX and Victoria (Kyle) McCarter of Lebanon; Joel Pennington Sr of Ooltewah,Tennessee, the father of her two children; and her former husband Buzz Bozue of Smithtown, IL.

Susan was a beautiful, bright, kind, and loving person who adored her children and family. She was particularly fond of her new grand daughter, Daisy June. She and her husband Christopher lived to go to bluegrass shows and dance until she hurt her back a few years ago. Susan had the time of her life on a cruise for her 50th birthday, a present from her sister Victoria.

Susan had an excellent memory and loved to share family stories. She was the best family historian and remembered even the smallest details. Although she lived a modest life, Susan dressed sharply with every detail from her nails to her hair and makeup looking great. She also loved to cook and sometimes would travel to Texas to visit and cook for her sister Natalie’s family. Everyone enjoyed these visits and wished Aunt Susan would stay longer as she was quite entertaining, made everyone laugh and her food was delicious.

Mrs. Jackson was a nurse's aid and a veteran of the US Navy.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. - noon on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church, 301 N. Church Street, Belleville, Illinois. A memorial mass will immediately follow the visitation. A reception will be held in the parish center after the mass.

The family asks that instead of flowers, a donation be made to SusanJacksonMemorial.com (benefiting Mrs. Jackson’s sons) or to a charity of your choice
