Obituary for Shirley Lawson (Modglin)

Shirley Lawson, age 93, of Trenton, formerly of Freeburg and Las Vegas, NV, passed away Friday, December 1, 2017 at Trenton Village. She was born September 15, 1924 in Christopher, IL, the daughter of the late Leo and Marie (Isom) Modglin. She married Herbert Lawson. He survives.
Also surviving are three children: Stephen (Simone) Jackson of Lebanon, Cheryl Nelson and Lisa Conners, both of North Carolina; one step-daughter, Lisa (Danny) Fritz of Las Vegas; three grandchildren: Jessica, Ashley and Julie; three great-grandchildren: Peyton, Sophia and Kimsey; ,one sister, Carol Brewer of Tuscola, IL, and a special “son”, Greg Richard of New York,
Mrs. Lawson was a registered nurse. She most recently was a hospice nurse in Las Vegas. She was also a talented organist, pianist and violinist. She was the organist at St John UCC in Smithton. In Las Vegas she played for many weddings and funerals. She also spent several years as house mother for the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity at Westminster College where she loved playing the organ at the Churchill Memorial.
Services will be Wednesday, December 13th at 12:30 p m at Trenton Village Assisted Living in Trenton IL with Pastor Don Wagner officiating. Memorials may be given to the Lebanon St. Paul United Church of Christ Organ Fund.
