James E. “Elwood” Stafford, Jr., age 92, of Nashville, passed away at 12:50 a.m. Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Friendship Manor Healthcare in Nashville. He was born August 23, 1925 in Portageville, MO, the son of the late James E. and Louise (Cummins) Stafford, Sr. He married Bessie Flowers. She preceded him in death.
Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Stafford.
He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (Durwood) Hurst of Okawville; five grandchildren: Chris Hurst, Jeff (Jennifer) Hughes, Brad (Rossy) Hurst, Forrest (Beth) Hurst and Aimee (Bill) Mueller; eight great-grandchildren: Savanna, Ian, Caitlin, Steffany, Norah, Judah, Madalyn and Ryan; and two sisters: Sue (Bishop R.B.) Bingham of Anderson, IN and Jean (Bill) Williams of St. Charles, MO; and one brother, Harry Stafford of Houston, TX.
Mr. Stafford was a used car dealer in the metro east for many years. He enjoyed horse racing and playing the harmonica.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m to 12 noon at Kalmer Memorial Services. A memorial service will immediately follow.
