Obituary for Jeanette M. "Jenny" Dierkes (Holtgrave)

Jeanette M. “Jenny” Dierkes, age 76, of Germantown, passed away at 12:02 a.m. Sunday, November 5, 2017 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese. She was born May 16, 1941 in Breese, the daughter of the late Edwin “Hoppie” and Helen (Ribbing) Holtgrave. She married Maurice Dierkes May 6, 1961 in St. Rose. He survives.
In addition to her husband, Jenny is survived by three children: Brenda (Steve) Hellige of Breese, Douglas (Jennifer) Dierkes of Bloomington, IL and Craig (JoAnn) Dierkes of Longwood, FL; six grandchildren: Kristine Hellige (special friend Taylor Beckmann), Matthew Hellige, Justin Dierkes, Ashley Dierkes, Haley Dierkes and Trevor Dierkes; and two brothers: Stan (Kathy) Holtgrave of St. Rose and Mike (Clarice) Holtgrave of Maryville.
Jenny was an avid golfer who once scored a hole-in-one. After her husband, Maurice retired from Maurice’s Barber Shop in Belleville, they enjoyed traveling together. In addition to being a homemaker, she worked for Becker Jewelers in Breese, the US Army Corps of Engineers, and in Civil Service at Scott Air Force Base. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown and the Germantown American Legion Auxiliary.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Germantown. Visitation will continue from 8:30 – 9:45 a.m. Friday, November 10, 2017, followed by the funeral mass at 10 a.m. at the church.
Memorial contributions may be given to Mater Dei High School or to the American Autoimmune Related Disease Assn.
