James R. McMahan, age 79, of East Alton, IL, died Friday, July 28, 2017 at his residence. He was born December 29, 1937 in Dunklin County, TN, the son of the late J.T. and Bennie McMahan.

Mr. McMahan is survived by three children: Debra Darlene (Ron) Beery of St. Charles, MO, David (Susan) McMahan of St. Charles, MO and Dan (Roxann) McMahan of St. Louis, MO; seven grandchildren: Justin McMahan, Joshua Campbell, Shannon Link and Russell Bellew, Aaron Forsythe, Jesse Forsythe and Sarah Guajardo; nine great-grandchildren: Hunter, Damian, Jaxson, Mya, Tyler, Logan, Dre, Jacob and Jesse, Jr. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joe McMahan and Doug McMahan.

James was an avid golfer. He was also a member of the Federal Order of the Eagles in Alton, and Wood River Moose Lodge #1349.
