Obituary for John Joseph Jorns

John Joseph Jorns, age 56, of Belleville, died at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Belleville Memorial Hospital. He was born September 15, 1960 in Belleville, the son of Alfred and Rosemary (Newton) Jorns. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded by a brother, Alfred Jorns, Jr; and two sisters: Deborah Sue Jorns and Carol Grueber.

John is survived by a brother and a sister: David (Cindy) Jorns of Belleville and Patricia (John) Zitta of Swansea; his nieces and nephews: Tracy (Ken) Newton Duggins, Steve (Sandy) Zitta, Brett Grueber, Craig (Peggy) Zitta, Dan (Michelle) Rogers, Kelly (Billy) Miller, and Jennifer (Scott) Rogers. He is also survived by numerous additional loved family members and friends.

John enjoyed his workshop group, Vintage Support Group.

The family would like to express their thanks to the Cool Valley Group Home in Belleville, as well as the doctors, nurses and staff of the Belleville Memorial Hospital Intensive Care Unit for their care and compassion.

A committal service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017 at Reiss Chapel, Lakeview Memorial Gardens in Fairview Heights. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Special Olympics of Illinois.
