Obituary for Betty A. Wild (Smith)

Betty Ann Wild, of Edwardsville, died Monday, June 5, 2017. Betty was born July 14, 1933, in Birmingham Alabama, daughter of Hugh Allen Smith and Annie Laura Holmes.

She leaves behind one son, Dan Wild, and three daughters, Debby Moseley (Greg Milburn) of Frontenac, Missouri; Linda Wild-Lamb of Urbana, Illinois; and Barb (Paul) Pizzini of Edwardsville; eight grandchildren: Chris Wild, Brian and Chris Moseley, Samantha and Katie Lamb, Nicole, Max and Grace Pizzini and one great grandchild, Roman Ounkham.

While raising her children, Betty completed her Bachelor of Science in Business at SIUE in 1972 and worked full time in Computer Operations at SIUE, starting in Data Processing and later as Manager of Operations. She enjoyed golfing leagues at the Edwardsville American Legion, camping, hummingbirds, crocheting, and hosting holiday parties, especially 4th of July, at her lake house. She was also an active volunteer driver with Faith in Action in Edwardsville for several years.

Her family has requested that memorial and remembrances be made through donations to Edwardsville Faith in Action or the Glen Ed Pantry (her two favorite charities). Arrangements have been made for her remains be donated to Washington University School of Medicine, and no memorial service is planned at this time. The family expresses its grateful appreciation to the kind, compassionate people at Hospice of Southern Illinois, Edwardsville Nursing and Rehabilitation, and at Kalmer Memorial Services. Betty left this world spiritually at peace, with no regrets.
