Virginia Schemmer, age 88, of Edwardsville, formerly of St. Charles, MO, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born August 19, 1928 in St. Louis, MO, the daughter of the late Haskel and Alvina (Bernhardt) Buford. She married Edward Schemmer. He preceded her in death in February of 1994.
Mrs. Schemmer is survived by two children: Julie (Randy) Davis of Edwardsville, IL and Edward Schemmer of Ferguson, MO; six grandchildren: Lucas Davis, Brandon Davis, Owen Davis, Caroline Schemmer, Rebecca Schemmer and Robert Specking; and two siblings: David Buford of Hermon, MO and Fran Poese of St. Charles, MO.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Spec king; and a brother, John Buford.
Virginia was a bookkeeper for Kings Pharmacy in Ferguson, MO. She was also a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in St. Charles.
Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Peters Catholic Church in St. Charles, immediately followed by a funeral Mass of Resurrection. Burial will be in Calvary Catholic Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Peters Catholic Church in St. Charles or St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville.
