The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Richard McClelland can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

CYO

In our senior year at Assumption, they were holding a CYO convention at Mater Dei in Breese, and we all wanted to go, but we surely didn't want mom or dad to just take us and be embarassed by having them drop us off and have to stay with a "host family". Somehow Rich convinced his dad to let him use his car for the weekend. I still think alcohol was involved in some way!!!! Anyway, Rich, me, Butch Zeller and I think maybe Frank Grill went and when we pulled into the front of Mater Dei, we caused quite a stir !!! At this point I must leave out some details to protect us from litigation, etc, but we wound up in a local moyel room thatt night (the only one in town as I recall). Ther were about 10 guys in the room and most were playing poker. Since I didn't want to loose my hard earned money, I became the quasi-designated bartender. when someone wanted a beer, I went into the bathroom shower and dug one out of the pile of ice. Don't remember much else, except waking up laying cross-ways across the bed along with several other guyswho just needed a place to crash for the night. I don't know who paid for the room or why we weren't tossed out earlier, but we had a night to remember !!!!! I think Rich got in trouble with his dad over something about the car, but I don't think he wrecked it or scratched it. Sure am gonna miss him and especially have him fill in some of the blanks from that night.
