Fay F. Berry, age 89, of Belleville, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. Fay was born on February 24, 1928 and raised on a farm in Plainview, IL. After graduating from high school in Carlinville, IL in 1944, she attended Blackburn College and received an Associate’s degree in 1946. She married Robert Berry on September 5, 1948. While raising seven children, she earned a Bachelor’s degree in education from SIU-E and was a long-time substitute teacher and teacher’s aide for Belleville Public School District 118. After their retirement, Bob & Fay traveled extensively, visiting their children and grandchildren, all 50 states, Canada, Mexico, Europe and the Panama Canal.

Fay was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Ada (Sweet) Frank; and one sister, Julia Chesterman.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children David (Sue) Berry of St. Charles, IL, Steve (Patty) Berry of O'Fallon, MO, Tom (Mary) Berry of Kirkwood, MO, Jody Berry of Belleville, Sandy (Ed) Wood of Oberlin, OH, Scott (Lori) Berry of Cedar Rapids, IA and Jon (Rebecca) Berry of Woodinville, WA; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren with three more on the way; two brothers and a sister-in-law: Jim (Vada) Frank of Plainview, IL, Bob (Sylvia) Frank of Edwardsville, IL and Jackie West of Issaquah, WA.

According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated. The family will hold a private memorial gathering at a later date.
