Obituary for Charles Cleveland "Chip" Chapman

Charles Cleveland "Chip" Chapman, age 84, of Lebanon, died at 11:48 p.m. Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Highland Healthcare Center in Highland. He was born June 6, 1932 in Granite City, IL, the son of the late Charles C. and Gertrude Irene (Meyer) Chapman, Sr. He married Elizabeth Mae Dalton November 20, 1955. She survives.

Also surviving are his children: Deborah (Scott) Lewis of South Carolina, Mark Chapman of Florida, Rebekah (Jim) Hayes of Illinois, David Chapman of Texas and Stephen (Fruwah) Chapman of Virginia; grandchildren: Matthew Lewis, Jessica Lewis (boyfriend Bobby Clark), Alicia Chapman, Darrell Chapman, Angel Ater, Luke Ater, John Ater, Alaric Chapman and Akere Chapman; three great-grandchildren Jacob Ater, A.J., and Theo Chapman; and his brother, Frank (Marie) Chapman of Missouri. He is also survived by his "daughter of heart", Tami (Robert) Hall of Illinois. His Special Care Givers at Highland Healthcare Center called him "Mr. Blue Eyes". Charles was a great uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Mr. Chapman graduated from McKendree College, member of the Philosophian Literary Society, He was a Mason and a minister with the United Methodist Church. He was employed as Director of Development at McKendree University and was also in auto sales.

His body was gifted to St. Louis University School of Medicine. A family celebration of his life will be held in June on his birthday.
