Obituary for Theodore G. Wagner Jr.

Theodore G. Wagner, Jr., age 67, of Belleville, died Friday, November 4, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home in Lebanon after a short battle with cancer. He leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Carol; his son, Dennis; daughter-in-law, Susan; and grandson, Justin. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Geri Maslan; as well as his brothers: Bob, John and Ron; his sister, Debbie; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ted was born March 13, 1949 in Chicago, the son of Theodore G. and Frances (Schinler) Wagner, Sr., who both preceded him in death. He married his high school sweetheart, Carol Maslan September 27, 1968. Shortly after graduation, Ted took a position with Missouri Pacific Rail Road (which later became Union Pacific Rail Road) and he would retire after 39 years, working in the customer service and billing department.
Mr. Wagner enjoyed fishing, hiking, taking long drives with Carol and playing with their different dogs over the years. He was a volunteer fireman for 15 years, a Little League coach and Cub Scout/Webelo leader, all in Mokena, IL.
Ted requested to be cremated. There will be a memorial service at a later date. The family would especially like to thank VITAS Hospice of Fairview Heights for their excellent work and loving care (especially Shannon, Royal and Toni); the staff of Cedar Ridge Health Center for their attentive treatment and care (especially Sarah, Stephanie and Mia). In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to either VITAS Hospice, 8 Executive Dr., Suite 150, Fairview Heights, IL 62208 or Skyline Church Operation Next Fund, PO Box 766, O'Fallon, IL 62269.
