He wrote many books: a book of his memoirs for his children and grandchildren to read, a book of limericks, 17 travel photo books about their adventures around the world and a book documenting the stories of two cousins and a brother during World War II. He loved attending Atlanta, Illinois Memorial Day events and seeing old friends from his hometown. He also enjoyed being a regular participant of a weekly breakfast group of very dear colleagues and friends who meant a lot to him.
