Obituary for Ulys W. "Don" Bascom

SMSGT Ulys W. "Don" Bascom, (Ret.) age 75, of New Baden, died at 1:36 p.m. Friday, September 16, 2016 at Memorial East Hospital in Shiloh. He was born June 17, 1941 in Cave-In-Rock, IL, the son of the late Ulys G. and Elizabeth (Davis) Bascom. He married Elisabeth Schleissmann on December 9, 1978. She survives.
Also surviving are two brothers: Barry (Myra) Bascom of Harrisburg, IL and Bill (the late Pauline) Bascom of Plainfield, IN. He was preceded in death by a brother, Noel Bascom; and a sister, Mervin Joyce Bascom.
Don was photographer for the US Air Force. He was a member of New Baden American Legion Post 321, where he served as the Finance Officer for 25 years.
According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated and no services will be held.
