Wayne E.  Brammeier
Wayne E. Brammeier, age 88, of Glen Carbon, died at 9:02 a.m. Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at his residence. He was born April 5, 1928 in Mediapolis, IA, the son of Edward and Mamie (Cluff) Brammeier. He graduated from Mediapolis High School and joined the US Navy, where he served on the USS Caimen submarine.
After serving his country, he attended Burlington Jr. College, where he met and married his wife of 65 years, Janet Coffin. He then graduated from Bradley University and raised a family of six.
He retired from State Farm Insurance after 30 years of service. He also belonged to the Illinois Air National Guard in Springfield and retired as a Lt. Colonel. Wayne was a lifetime member of the Episcopal Church and served in many capacities at St. Andrew's in Edwardsville. He spent many years as a Boy Scout leader.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet, and one son, Eric Brammeier. He is survived by five children: Pam (Phillip) Liles of Mt. Olive, IL, David Brammeier of Glen Carbon, George Brammeier of Bradenton, FL, Todd (Sondra) Brammeier of Edwardsville and Christopher (Ashley) Brammeier of Edwardsville; ten grandchildren: Brad, Brian, Nicholas, Benjamin, Samuel, Joseph, Eric, Jack, Logan and Oliver; three great-grandchildren: Barret and Beau and Beck; and one sister, Wilda Jean Zippe from Georgetown, Texas.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Edwardsville. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the church with Rev. Ralph McMichael officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Hills Memorial Estates in Glen Carbon. Memorial contributions may be given to Vitas Hospice.
