Russell D. Schmittling, age 53, of O'Fallon, IL, died at 6:23 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2016 at his residence. He was born January 9, 1963 in Belleville, the son of the late Stanley and Sandra (McClary) Schmittling. He is survived by three children: James (Alaina) Legg of Smithton, Emily Schmittling of Lebanon and Jacob (Billie Randle) of O'Fallon; one step-daughter, Brittany Helfrich of Urbana, IL; four grandchildren: Lucy Schmittling, Charlie Schmittling, Bryson Schmittling and Augie Helfrich; and two brothers: Bryan (Wendy) Schmittling of Shiloh and Randy (Donna) Schmittling of Belleville. Mr. Schmittling worked for Peerless Premier Appliance Co. in Belleville.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 11, 2016, starting at 1:00 p.m. at Klucker Hall, 14 Park Dr. in Shiloh.
