Obituary for Jean Klaus

Jean Klaus, age 84, of Glen Carbon, IL, died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at her residence. She was born July 13, 1931 in Chicago, the daughter of the late Clarence and Estelle (Rainis) Schaefer. She married Richard G. Klaus June 17, 1950 in Chicago. He preceded her in death January 23, 2013.

Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Carole Lackowski. She is survived by two sons: Mark (Karen) Klaus of Evansville, IN and Paul (Barbara) Klaus of Edwardsville; four grandchildren: Jessica (Matt) Lamont of Carmi, IL, Michael (Kate) Klaus of Carmi, IL, Steven Klaus of Nashville, TN and Lydia Klaus of Edwardsville; two great-grandchildren: Jacob and Alyson Lamont; two sisters: Geri Moeller of Downers Grove, IL, Clarice Moeller of Darien, IL; and one brother, Bob Schaefer, of Geneva, IL.

Mrs. Klaus was an administrative assistant for Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, IL. She was also a longtime member of Sacred Heart Church in Lombard, IL, before moving to Glen Carbon. She was currently a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. A funeral mass will immediately follow the visitation. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorial contributions may be given to the church.
