Joyce Lee  Furtkamp (Best)
Joyce L. Furtkamp, age 80, of Lebanon, passed away at 3:20 p.m. Sunday, April 10, 2016 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville, IL. She was born Nov. 12, 1935 in Livingston, IL; the daughter of the late Ellsworth and Gladys (Bishop) Best. Joyce married James Furtkamp September 6, 1958 in Staunton, IL.

Joyce is survived by her husband Jim and their three children: Douglas (Lisa) Furtkamp of Ozark, MO, Darryl Furtkamp of Andover, NH, and Deanna (Scott) Weiler of Ashland, VA; seven grandchildren: Mitchell, Travis and Tanner Furtkamp, Emily and Mark Weiler, and William and Lillian Furtkamp; her siblings: Lois (Ramsae) Stricker of Highland, IL, Vara (David) Yochum of Troy, IL, and Harlan (Mary) Best of Staunton, IL, and a brother-in-law, Robert Owens of The Villages, FL. She was preceded in death by a sister, Merlyne Owens.

Joyce was a Registered Nurse for many years with many area hospitals, and also volunteered her services with Hospice of Southern Illinois. Joyce is remembered by grandchildren, extended family and neighbors for her countless hours of entertainment and playful activities during their early years.

Joyce was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lebanon, IL. There will be a Visitation at the First United Methodist Church in Lebanon on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Memorail Service to honor Joyce will be held at the Church on Friday, April 15, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (additional Visitation from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. preceding the Memorial), Her remains will be donated to Washington University School of Medicine.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Belleville Area Humane Society or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
