Obituary for Dorothy M. Hobbs

Dorothy M. Hobbs, age 99, of Belleville, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday, February 18, 2016 at Cedar Ridge Heal Care Center in Lebanon. She was born October 16, 1916 in Belleville, the daughter of the late Paul and Bertha (Bierwirth) Schinzing. She is survived by two children: Judy Swalley of St. Louis and Patty Frank of Belleville; two grandchildren: Drew Roedersheimer and Darah (Nick) Dodt; and two great-grandchildren: Nate and Lucy Dodt. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Joshua Roedersheimer; and three brothers: Orville, Leroy and Melvin Schinzing.
Ms. Hobbs was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Belleville and was active with the Belleville Senior Citizens. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and loved animals, which made her a popular and frequent pet sitter.
Her remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
