Obituary for Jerome "Mr. Wobs" Wobbe

Jerome "Mr. Wobs"  Wobbe
Jerome "Mr. Wobs" Wobbe, age 73, of Breese, died Thursday, June 25, 2015 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville. He was born November 11, 1941 in Breese, the son of Joseph and Fern (Schmeder) Wobbe. He married Mary Ann Rolfingsmeyer on January 7, 1967. She survives. Also surviving are four children: Sharon (Alan) Zelko of St. Charles, MO, Laura (Mark) Loepker of Beckemeyer, Jason Wobbe of Breese, and Amy (Mark) Kuhl of Liberty, MO; six grandchildren: Allison (Matt) Schroeder, Sara Loepker, Rachel Loepker, Jacob Loepker, Austin Kuhl, and Meghan Kuhl; three step grandchildren: Josh Zelko, Noah Zelko and Lydia Zelko; one great-grandchild, Kayne Schroeder; two sisters: Marita Hilmes of Germantown and Kathie (Jim) Heimann of Germantown; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Ed and Donna Rolfingsmeyer of Aviston, Dale and Marlene Hemker of Bartelso, and Eric and Jane Baumgartner of Breese. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law: Pete Dierkes and Gene Hilmes; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene and Lorena Rolfingsmeyer.

Mr. Wobbe retired as a Dietary Supervisor from the State of Illinois Centralia Correctional Center in 2001. Prior to that, he was a cook at Wil-Char Restaurant in Breese. He was a member of the first graduating class at Mater Dei High School in Breese, and was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard in Illinois and as a Reserve of the Army in 1966. He was Past President of the Breese Jaycee’s and was a member of St. Dominic Catholic Church in Breese and the Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends in Breese, and taking rides with his wife and puppy, Maci.

Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. Thursday, July 2, 2015 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Breese, with Rev. Chuck Tuttle officiating. A memorial mass will immediately follow the visitation. Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese or St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville.
