Obituary for William P. Biggins

William Biggins, age 74, of Highland, formerly of Collinsville, died at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at his residence. He was born December 18, 1940 in East St. Louis, IL, the son of Joseph P. and Helen L. (Rosa) Biggins. He is survved by his wife, Susan (Johnson) Biggins, whom he married November 2, 1972. Also surviving are six children: Cherry Goode of North Carolina, John (Wendy) Biggins of New Baden, IL, Tim (Leanne) Biggins of St. Jacob, IL, Tony Biggins of Highland, Kim (John) Lemmerman of Jerseyville, IL and Brandy (fiance Clayton Phillipson) Biggins of Ogden, KS; 11 grandchildren: Shayla, Shawn, Jonathan, Cody, Carey, Tony, Savannah (Jeff) Sherion, Shane, Lucian, and Liam; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Biggins and James Biggins; and his godchild, Antoinette. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Biggins.

Mr. Biggins graduated from East St. Louis High School where he was a football standout known as "Bill the Toe". He received a track scholarship as a pole vaulter to Murray State University. After college, he joined the US Marines, proudly serving his country. He was an avid Cardinals fan, an avid reader, loved animals and never met a stranger. He was a wonderful husband and father.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
