Obituary for Edward E. Mueller

Edward E.  Mueller
Edward E. Mueller, age 68, of Maryville, formerly of Edwardsville, died at 1:10 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2015 at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville. He was born December 27, 1946 in Red Bud, IL, the son of Charles E. and Harriet (Sandifer) Mueller. He married Cathy Hattery December 24, 1979. She survives. Also surviving are three sisters: Kathryn Mueller of Edwardsville, Elizabeth Mueller of St. Louis and Charlott Rubin of Denver, CO; two nephews: Evan Mueller and Jim Owens, Jr.; one niece, Blythe Owens; one great-niece; two great-great nephews and one great-great niece. He has three brothers-in-law; two sisters-in-law and his mother-in-law, Helen Hattery of Orlando, FL. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Owens.

Ed held a bachelor's degree in Mathematics and an MBA in Economics and Finance from Southern Illinois University. He was employed by Mallincrodt as a Director of Marketing and was a principal with WRYT Radio in Edwardsville. He was a US Army veteran, proudly serving from 1967-1969. He was with the 25th Infantry Division (Tropic Lightening), 1st Battalion, 27th Infantry Regiment (Wolfhounds) Company D. He served during the Tet Offensive in 1968, and was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Ed was an avid golfer and reader; was a gifted mathematician and enjoyed tutoring math students. He never knew a stranger and had many long time friends.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at Kalmer Memorial Services, located on Rt. 50 between Lebanon and O'Fallon. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Animal Protection Association in Granite City, IL or Partners for Pets, Troy, IL.
