Cheryl Gehrer, age 53, of O'Fallon, IL, died at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at her residence. She was born May 2, 1961 in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of Cecil Maurice Ward of Asheville, NC and Adele (Kiebzak) Meek of Depew, NY. She married Thomas Gehrer, Sr September 19, 1989. He survives. Also surviving are three children: Jennifer Wixon of Belleville, Thomas Gehrer, Jr. of O'Fallon and Casey Gehrer of O'Fallon; three step-children: Carrie Gehrer of Oakdale, IL, Courtney Gehrer of Austin, TX and Katie Gehrer of Belleville; one grandchild, Daniel Mortensen; her brothers and sisters: Catherine (Dan) Pace of Rowlett, TX, Steve Ward of Asheville, NC, Carolyn Hargus of Portland, OR, Brian (Jennifer) Ward of Asheville, NC and Samantha (Joe) Clementi of West Palm Beach, FL; and two step-brothers: Robert Meek of Alabama and Richard (Lauren) Meek of Maine.
Cheryl was the owner of Curves in Fairview Heights and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of First Baptist Church in O'Fallon and was a veteran of the US Navy. She was also a member of the O'Fallon Kiwanis Club, where she was the recipient of the Zellar Award.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, April 17, 2015 at Kalmer Memorial Services, located on Rt. 50 between O'Fallon and Lebanon. A private funeral service will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015. Following the service, her remains will be cremated. Memorial contributions may be given to Uveal Melanoma Research Fund. Checks can be made payable to: Jefferson
