Obituary for Herman J. Robben

Herman J.  Robben
Herman J. Robben, age 84, of Trenton, formerly of Germantown, died Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at his residence with loved ones by his side.

Herman was born March 18, 1930 in Germantown, the son of Herman and Clara (Duepmann) Robben. He married Vanetta Malare on November 26, 1953 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Trenton, where he was currently a member. He was a 1948 graduate of Aviston High School and was a veteran of the US Army, serving in a MASH unit during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Trenton American Legion Post 778. He retired from Scott Air Force Base in 1986 where he served as a Supervisor at the base hospital. He loved his St. Louis Cardinals, as well as spending his later years with his only grandchild, Natalie Rose Noffke.

Herman is survived by his wife, Vanetta of Trenton; his daughter Tina (Richard) Noffke; his granddaughter, Natalie Rose Noffke, also of Trenton; brother Leonard (Jeanette) Robben of Germantown; sister Betty (Frank) Schoendienst of Belleville; and his sisters-in-law: Betty Robben of Carlyle, Carolyn Robben of Germantown and Marlene Robben, also of Germantown. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Vinnue "Wieners" and Bertha (Ritzheimer) Malare; a sister, Vivian (Norbert) Hedtkamp; and his brothers: Richard, Thomas, James, Harrold and William "Billy" Robben.

A family memorial mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Trenton. Memorial contributions may be given to BJC Hospice or to the American Cancer Society.
