Thomas Henry Luchtefeld, age 75, of Collinsville, formerly of Edwardsville, died Thursday, January 22, 2015 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. He was born March 23, 1939 in Effingham, IL, the son of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Thoele) Luchtefeld. He married Barbara Poe May 10, 1969 in Edwardsville. She survives. Also surviving are five brothers and one sister: Ronald (Maryann) Luchtefeld of Prairie Village, KS, Richard (Bonnie) Luchtefeld of Cartersville, GA, Mark (Jean) Luchtefeld of Edwardsville, Michael (Karen) Luchtefeld of Trenton, IL, Stephen (Melanie) Luchtefeld of Decatur, AL and Mary Westerhold of Edwardsville; three sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Schwab, ReVona Julian, and Emmalene Arnold; and one brother-in-law, William (Joyce) McCracken. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and a special friend, Janice Rojas. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two nephews: Michael Luchtefeld and Daven Guettler.

Mr. Luchtefeld worked at Richards Brick in Edwardsville for 41 years, retiring in 2001. He was a member of the Edwardsville Moose Lodge 1561 and the Edwardsville American Legion Post 199.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Edwardsville. A memorial mass will immediately follow the visitation, with the Very Rev. Jeffrey Goeckner, pastor, officiating.
According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated. Memorial contributions may be given to the Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Arthritis Foundation.
