Leona J. "Janie" Evans, age 63, of New Athens, died at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville. She was born December 23, 1951 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of the late Estol and Edna (Hammond) Holland. She married Michael Evans August 21, 1984 in Belleville. He survives. Also surviving are four children: Kimberly Holland of Lenzburg, IL, Teresa Ahne of Marissa, IL, Terri Autry of New Athens and Tanya Miller (significant other Roy McCain) of Freeburg, IL; ten grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, Kevin Holland of Springfield, IL. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.

Janie worked in healthcare. Most recently, she was the Activities Director at Terrace on the Park in Mascoutah.

According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated. A memorial service will be held from 1 p.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the New Athens Community Center, 406 Chester St. in New Athens, IL.
