Obituary for Arno Sponeman

Arno Sponeman, age 76, of Granite City, IL, died at 1:32 p.m. Thursday, December 25, 2014 at Jefferson Barracks Veterans Hospital in St. Louis. He was born April 24, 1938 in Granite City, the son of the late Arno V. and Lillian M. (Coffey) Sponeman, Sr. He is survived by four children: Arno V. "Skip" (Samantha) Sponeman, III of Edwardsville, Charlie (Naomi) Grisham of Oceanside, CA, Kristin Staten of Belleville and Alexander Sponeman of Indianapolis, IN; eight grandchildren; and one sister, Sharon (Bob) Beedle of St. Cloud, MN.
Mr. Sponeman was a bookkeeper, working in accounting for various businesses through the years. He was a veteran of the US Army and the US Air Force, was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the Venice, IL Veterans of Foreign Wars.
According to his wishes, his remains were cremated. No services will be held. His cremated remains will be interred at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.
