Obituary for Eugene C. "Pidge" Hoyt

Eugene C. "Pidge"  Hoyt
Eugene C. "Pidge" Hoyt, age 83, of Lebanon, died at 6:18 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Lebanon Care Center. He was born April 19, 1931 in St. Louis, MO, the son of the late Orville Lee and Louise (Keith) Hoyt. He married Jeanette Thornley June 3, 1955. She survives. Also surviving are two sons: Clayton (Denise) Hoyt of Smithton, IL and Matthew (Colleen) Hoyt of St. Louis; and four grandchildren: Ryan Matthew Hoyt, Sean Joseph Hoyt, Andrew Clayton Hoyt and Sophia Marie Hoyt.
Mr. Hoyt was a self employed sales consultant and was the owner of Depend-A-Pak. He graduated from McKendree College (now McKendree University) in 1954 and was a stand-out basketball player. He holds the career record for rebounds (2975) and his scoring record of 2510 points stood until 2003. He was installed into the McKendree Basketball Hall of Fame in 1989 and has been a life-long McKendree Basketball fan. He was an avid sports fan and outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing. Mr. Hoyt was also a veteran of the US Marine Corps.

At Pidge's request, his remains will be cremated and a private burial will be held.
