Ronald Edward Thompson, age 79, of Edwardsville, formerly of Flora, IL, died at 8:44 a.m. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Relais Bonne Eau Hospice Home in Edwardsville.

He was born March 16, 1935 in Goldfield, IA, the son of the late Seth and Dorothea (Misenhimer) Thompson. He married Marjorie Howe March 21, 1953. She preceded him in death.

He is survived by five children: Valerie (Bob) Bute of Louisville, IL, Vickie (Tom) Hodges of Summerfield, FL, Dora (Don) Riley of Flora, IL, Jon (Nona) Thompson of Osage Beach, MO and Lynne (Darell) Wilson of Clay City, IL; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; one sister, Dollie Pearson of Edwardsville, IL; and a sister-in-law, Carrie Thompson of Flora, IL.

He was preceded in death by two brothers: Walter and Burrell Thompson; and a brother-in-law, Harley Pearson.

According to his wishes, his remains will be cremated and a private burial will be held in Flora, IL.
