Obituary for Carol R. McConnell
Carol R. McConnell, age 80, of Glen Carbon, IL, died at 12:35 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at Anderson Hospital in Maryville. She was born July 15, 1933, the daughter of the late Thomas Raymond and Ruth (Kegley) McConnell. She is survived by two daughters: Catherine A. (Chris) McDonald of Grayslake, IL and Janet (James) Craig of Glen Carbon; and four grandchildren: Samantha Smith, Emily Smith, Ellen Craig and Dianna Craig. She was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McConnell.
Ms. McConnell graduated from Antioch College in Ohio, and received a Master's Degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL . She was the Librarian for Gurnee Grade School in Gurnee, IL and was the president of the Warren Newport Public Library Board for 20 years.
According to her wishes, her remains will be cremated. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
